Due to recent injuries to the squad members, we are looking to recruit additional players to represent Great Britain as a part of our W45+ team at the World Championship in Ticino, Switzerland from 27 June to 6 July 2025. Head Coach, Riccardo Raggi is extending an open invitation to interested players aged 45 years and over to join our next training weekend on 15th & 16th March at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena.
As we know, the FIMBA World Maxibasketball Championship is held every two years, with GB Maxibasketball having previously fielded British teams in the championships in Finland (2019) and in Argentina (2023). This year’s global event already has 400 male and female teams registered to compete from nations across all five continents, and in age groups rising from 30+ to 75+ age categories. It promises to be one of the largest masters basketball events in the history of the international masters federation.
Eligibility:
1. Players must be aged 45 years or more (born 1980 or earlier)
2. Players must hold a GBR/dual GBR passport, or have lived in the UK for 12 months or longer.
FIMBA Ticino 2025 is an exciting opportunity for mature players to represent their nation against their international counterparts. We welcome applications from all eligible 45+ players. Expressions of interest, or requests for more information, can be sent to via our website contact form, or email us on info@gbmaxibasketball.co.uk.
