The GB Maxibasketball national teams training programme begins every September with open trial sessions for men and women, with our representative British teams typically selected by March for the following years’ European or World maxibasketball championships. In 2026, 10 teams were announced to compete in the FIMBA European Maxibasketball Championships in Athens (26 June to 5 July 2026), with the GB Men’s 50+ team competing at the FIBA Masters Open 2026, also in Greece from 4-12 July 2026.
The 2026/27 programme dates are also available ahead of the FIBA Masters Open 2027 (host nation yet to be announced), as are our provisional dates for the 2027/28 season. Some Maxibasketball Facts
GB Maxibasketball were the first team from Great Britain to compete in a world maxibasketball tournament in 2019, with the Women’s 50+ team attaining the country’s first ever world championship medal. In the following six years, we have grown from two teams to eleven teams and won twenty medals in British, European and World masters competitions.
