Easter Saturday brings news of a further addition to the GB Maxis Sports Science & Medicine team to support the expansion in the men’s program. We’d like to introduce ANTONIS KESISOGLOU as our latest recruit!
Tony is the Lead Strength and Conditioning (S&C) consultant for Dayson Physio & Sports Rehab; S&C coach for Kent Crusaders Basketball club, Kent Track Team and the Lead Sport Scientist for Canterbury Institute of Sports. No stranger to the court himself, Tony spent three seasons with PAOK basketball club, in Thessaloniki, Greece in the A1 Greek Basketball league.
Nationally, Tony has worked for GB Basketball and Basketball England U-15 & U16 girls teams. Outside of basketball, we were impressed to learn that Tony worked with the Saracens Rugby Academy, and he has coached track and field sprinters to European/World Championships and Olympic games.
Tony’s training philosophy is based upon movement efficiency, core control and injury prevention and as a PhD student at the University of Kent, his topic is training science and training load quantification/prescription in endurance exercise. He has worked with elite cyclists and runners and he is experienced on delivering maximum oxygen consumption tests (VO2max), blood lactate and ventilatory threshold assessments, running economy and cycling efficiency assessments. Outside of physiological-based assessments, his work involves also testing athletes in the field, including measurements of muscular strength, agility, speed and power.
We believe Tony will be a valuable asset and mentor within the SS&M team, and we are delighted that he has chosen GB Maxis as his vehicle to return to performance level basketball. We are excited to be working with you Tony!
