We are pleased to announce the recruitment of another fantastic coach to the GB maxibasketball performance programme, and that is Midlands-based Coach LIAM JEFFERSON.
Liam has spent the last 9 years coaching at Loughborough University as part of the staff on the reigning, four-time BUCS Champions. An Assistant Coach with the BUCS and Loughborough Riders NBL Division 1 team, Liam also brings Head Coaching experience across all levels of the Basketball England league structures. With a degree in Sports Coaching, Liam’s experience coaching in elite performance environments will be a great addition to the programme, also previously being a part of the coaching staff at the Deng Top 50 camp, an annual camp for the best u19 players in the country.
Liam moved into coaching following a junior and senior playing career that saw stops with the Nottingham Hoods, Loughborough Riders, Derby Trailblazers, Leicester Warriors, Sheffield Hallam and Leicester Riders.
He is looking forward to joining the GB Maxi Basketball programme and brings a skill set that will help develop strong team dynamics and culture amongst our teams. Liam said:
“I am extremely excited to be able to join the GB Maxi programme and look forward to working within what is now recognised as an elite national team programme. Speaking to Jesse Sazant, I was really impressed with the vision and direction for the GB Maxi teams and it felt like a great opportunity and challenge to be a part of. I’m really looking forward to meeting the other coaches and players at the next training camp in a few weeks time and I’m motivated to play a part in a successful European Championships in 2022.”
Welcome to Team GB Maxibasketball! We look forward to seeing you soon.
