Following our medal successes and some top 10 final rankings at the World Maxibasketball Championship in Ticino, the GB Maxibasketball national performance programme is looking to build on these achievements ahead of the European Maxibasketball Championship, which is scheduled for 26 June to 5 July 2026 in Athens.
We anticipate fielding GB male and female teams in age categories 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+ and 60+, and will consider other age groups if there is strength and depth of player demand and of course the availability of coaches and support staff.
We will be running two open sessions (trials & selection) for players, new coaches and support staff in September and October 2025.
Women: 13-14th Sept and 11&12 October 2025
Men: 20-21st Sept and 25-26th October 2025
All age groups meet at combined weekend camps using all three courts at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena, so each age group squad has a dedicated coach and programmed court time. Sessions will include drills, half court and full court, to assess player ability and basketball IQ. Typically, camps are 10am to 4pm, or 9am to 3pm, each day with breaks for food and off-court sessions in between. All camps have sports science & medicine staff in attendance.
If this appeals to you, then we’d be pleased to welcome you to our trials. Please complete our 2025/26 registration form and further information will be sent to you nearer the time.

Editor notes:
GB Maxibasketball operates as a national teams programme for high level players aged 35 to 65 years of age. It is aimed at selecting and preparing the best players possible to represent Great Britain at World and European Maxibasketball Championship events. The programme is recognised by all our home nation basketball governing bodies, and since 2000 it has been part of the Basketball England Talent Pathway to Great Britain representation. All masters basketball in the UK is self-funded, so all participants cover their own costs for training, kit, travel and competition. Corporate sponsorship and marketing opportunities are available in this ever-growing market. Contact info@gbmaxibasketball.co.uk for an initial discussion.
