We are just two weekends away from the start of the new GB Maxibasketball season, so what better time to introduce a few more personnel who have joined the programme and are looking forward to being part of our GB teams preparation for the European Maxibasketball Championship 2026, in Athens.
Coach DARREN OAKEY. Based in Wiltshire, Darren is no stranger to us, having been one of our coaches at the European Championship 2022 in Malaga. Darren has been coaching basketball for 32 years at all levels and in the last 12 years, he has coached at international level with the Welsh national team and as Lead Coach for Team NI which is Northern Ireland’s national team programme. Most recently, he has coached within the Bristol Flyers programme. We welcome Darren’s experience to the programme and look forward to working with him going forward.
Sports Performance Psychologist, TYLER EDWARDS, qualified in 2023 and has already worked in more than 20+ sport/exercise contexts from grassroots to Olympic level. His main focus is to enhance confidence and self-belief, deal with performance anxiety and create a unified team capable of great success at Athens 2026 and beyond!
So a huge welcome to new personnel and we look forward to seeing you in action at our open selection camps in September and October 2025 as we get on the road to Athens 2026.
