GB Maxibasketball wrapped up a great season-opening women’s camp yesterday afternoon at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena, with over 60 players and staff in attendance.
It hardly seems like a few months have gone by since FIMBA Ticino 2025 but it was good to welcome back new and existing players and coaches, especially those travelling in from the USA. Coaches were rotated across age groups 35+ to 60+ over the weekend, and sessions gave players plenty of opportunities to show off their individual and team skills in half and full court play.
It was good to see the return of Coach Darren Oakey (pictured below with Coach David Mason) who was kept busy working with different age groups across both days, as well as sports therapist Stephen Newland seen here with fellow sports therapist Gail White, who has returned to the programme for the first time since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As ever, we extend our thanks to our all coaches, SSEM staff, team managers and programme leads for their support in making the weekend a success. Hopefully, not too many sore bodies tomorrow 🥴
Next week it’s the turn of the men: hope they are ready to run! 😁🏀🇬🇧
