GB Maxis Men: Final Preparation Camp Complete Ahead of Masters Championships in Greece
This weekend, GB Maxibasketball’s men’s teams came together at the
Nottingham Wildcats Arena for their final preparations ahead of the upcoming Masters Championship in Greece.
The weekend’s centrepiece was a special presentation of GB game uniforms, hosted at The Village Hotel, Nottingham, a milestone moment for the players and staff receiving their first GB caps at masters level. We are proud to welcome the following first-time GB cap recipients into the GB family:
M35: Ashley Mowat, Jamie Glen, Jermayne Laing, Damian Edwards, Jason Tucker
M40: Colin Dockrell, Nicholas Traynor, Gary Burton, Haine Durrant-Kirnon
M50: Aaron Syrett (Assistant Coach), Lee Phillips
M55: Torsten Lauschmann, Cameron King, John Manzon (Assistant Coach)
M60: David Norval, Mark Modelweski, Stuart Glass, Andrew McCabe, Simon Fisher (Assistant Coach)
Team captains and leadership groups were also presented with their team flags, which they will carry with pride at the Opening Ceremonies and throughout the Championship.
Alongside the presentations, the camp also served as an opportunity to thank all of our coaches, assistant coaches and support staff for their hard work and commitment throughout the season. The success of our teams owes a great deal to the dedication shown behind the scenes, and this weekend was a fitting moment to recognise that contribution.
On court, the squads tested themselves in preparation games against Birmingham Elite and East Midlands, providing valuable match practice ahead of the trip to Greece.
With preparations now complete, our six GB Maxis men’s teams join our five women’s teams and head to Greece ready to compete. While medals are always the goal, the true value of these Championships lies in representing Great Britain, celebrating masters basketball, and sharing the court with our peers from across the world on the international stage.
