Last weekend saw both our 45+ squads were in action last weekend as European Championship preparations kicked into high gear — and what a weekend it was!
Our women’s squad made the trip to Sheffield’s All Saints Sports Centre for an intense training weekend under head coach Jesse Sazant, including a competitive clash against a Manchester Select side.
Though the result didn’t go their way, it was exactly the kind of battle-hardened preparation they needed — with Athens and the European Championship just 5 weeks away!

Jesse had this to say:
“This was a really productive weekend for the team with a high quality game against Manchester Mystics. Super excited about where we are at heading into our final camp before Athens.”
The energy is building. Watch out, Europe!
Meanwhile, Coach Darren Oakey took the men’s squad north of the border to Scotland for their own preparation block — and it was two games, two very different stories. First up, Falkirk Fury — a tough, physical loss that tested the squad and pushed them hard. Exactly the kind of challenge that makes you better.
Then came Renfrew Rocks — and the lads responded in style with a solid victory!

Two squads. Two countries. One goal.
We can’t wait to see both teams back together for their final training weekends in June before they go and represent Great Britain on the European stage!
